Bumps And Jumps Pump Up Cyclists
Local rider Dave Harrison jumps over a set of obstacles during the eighth annual Crosstoberfest cyclocross competition, held Friday and Saturday in Hailey. Harrison won Saturday’s Category 4 race, for those 45 and older. The event attracted some 120 racers, including ones from Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Canada. Cyclocross bike races usually are held in the autumn and cover a course that features pavement, tree-lined trails, grass, hills and obstacles. The 1.3-mile course at the Old Cutters Park had it all—brilliantly designed and adorned with sponsors’ tents, pub and grub, and even live music. Billy Olson, an event organizer and race announcer, was all smiles at the conclusion of the event. “It couldn’t have gone any better,” he said. Photo by Willy Cook
