Learn about fishing the Flathead River

Trout Unlimited to host presentation on new fishing adventure

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

Fishermen float the South Fork of the Flathead River in northwest Montana seeking adventures with cutthroat and bull trout.

Professional fishing guide Bob Knoebel will talk about fishing the South Fork of the Flathead River in northwest Montana at the Thursday, Nov. 1, meeting of the Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

The meeting is open to the public at no charge. It will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Whiskey Jacques’ on Main Street in Ketchum.

In a press release, Trout Unlimited describes the South Fork of the Flathead as an “angling paradise.” Knoebel, a guide for Silver Creek Outfitters in Ketchum, will talk about a seven-day 40-mile adventure in this “spectacular region.”

The press release states that the South Fork of the Flathead “produces cutthroats and bull trout as it traverses the wild country of the Bob Marshall Wilderness.”

A board member of the Hemingway Chapter, Knoebel moved to Sun Valley seven years ago from Westport, Conn., where he served as a board member of the Connecticut Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

He is also a professional photographer, contributing photographs frequently to Big Sky Journal.

With the Hemingway Chapter, Knoebel coordinates monthly meetings and runs the youth education program.

Trout Unlimited, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to protecting, reconnecting, restoring and sustaining cold water fisheries and habit. For more information, contact Bob Law at 622-4613.
