Plum TV ‘takes down’ signal

Cox spokeswoman says cable company wasn’t warned

    Nearly a year after Plum TV filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New York, the network has taken down the signal for its Sun Valley station on Cox Communications’ Channels 13 and 14.
   Plum TV is a New York-based network of local cable channels serving upscale resorts from Aspen to Miami. The network suspended production of local content and closed operations at its Sun Valley station (among others) in September 2011. The company laid off five employees when it closed the Sun Valley station. However, the network continued to air preprogrammed material on Cox’s Channels 13 and 14 until Oct. 18.

    “[Plum TV] had notified Cox their plans to cease operations in 2013,” Cox spokeswoman Gail Graeve stated in a Monday email to the Idaho Mountain Express. “Unfortunately, that was not the case. We were not given advance notice of their plans to take down their signal on Oct. 18, 2012.”
   Plum TV did not respond to emails by press time Tuesday. No other contact information was listed on the network’s website. Graeve said Cox did not have contact information for anyone at Plum TV.
   Plum Sun Valley began operation in 2006 when Plum TV bought television channel KSVT from the late Clint Stennett. In its first five years of operation, Plum Sun Valley offered 24-hour resort lifestyle programming with features produced both locally and at other Plum TV locations.
