Old Man Winter Wakes Up

A snowmaking machine churns out fresh snow on the slopes of Dollar Mountain in Sun Valley Sunday morning. Colder temperatures hit the Wood River Valley last weekend, followed by intermittently light and heavy snowfall Monday and Tuesday. Several inches of snow fell on the Bald Mountain ski area and the surrounding mountains, helping to supplement the resort’s snowmaking efforts. Snow showers are predicted to continue today, Oct. 24, and Thursday. Sun Valley Resort plans to open the 2012-2013 ski season on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22. Photo by Roland Lane
