It’s not unusual for Hailey’s Wood River High School to have a tight-knit crop of distance runners on its cross-country and track teams. It is unusual for a Wolverine runner to take another step and devise his senior proj-ect for charity that is based on running. That was the idea of current junior Alexis Gonzalez, the leader of the Wood River boys’ distance crew. He organized a 5-kilometer fun run last Saturday in Hailey (results on Page B5) and raised about $3,000 for the Blaine County Autism Spectrum Disorder Program for elementary students at Woodside Elementary School in Hailey. “It was a good project to do, so this group can do activities like rock climbing, swimming and arts and crafts,” Gonzalez said.
