District tries again to find new trustee

Applications now being accepted district-wide

By TERRY SMITH

After two unsuccessful attempts to find an applicant to fill its Zone 4 trustee vacancy, the Blaine County School District is now trying for a third time.
This time, however, as provided by Idaho law, the district is not restricted to only applicants who live within the boundaries of Zone 4. Instead, since 90 days have elapsed from when the vacancy was officially declared on Jan. 29, the district can recruit a potential new board member from any resident living within the boundaries of Blaine County.
Anyone interested in filling the vacancy should submit a letter of interest to Clerk of the Board Laurie Kaufman, either in person at the district office at 118 West Bullion St. in Hailey, by email at lkaufman@blaineschools.org or by U.S. mail at Laurie Kaufman, Clerk of the Board, Blaine County School District, 118 West Bullion St., Hailey, ID 83333.
Additional information is available from Kaufman at (208) 578-5003.
The deadline for applying is 3 p.m. on Friday, May 23. The application process will be followed by a school board interview, conducted in public, of anyone who applies.
If the Zone 4 vacancy is not filled within 120 days of when the vacancy was declared, then the responsibility of finding a new trustee goes to the Blaine County Board of Commissioners.
