Runners take aim on Redfish, SV Half

Spring footraces

Sign-ups are underway for two major early-season footraces—the fourth annual Redfish Lake Memorial Run on Saturday, May 24 and the 10th annual Sun Valley Half Marathon set for Saturday, June 7.

The Redfish Lake event attracted 276 runners last year including 59 in the 13.1-mile half marathon, 89 in the 10-kilometer event and 128 for the 5k race. All three courses are offered again in 2014 on paved, gravel and trail surfaces.

Entry fees prior to May 14 are $50 half marathon, $40 for 10k and $30 for 5k. They increase $10 for the half and $5 for other races from May 14 through May 23. All races start and end at the lodge. There is a new course this year for half marathon/10k runners.

The Sun Valley Half Marathon starts at 9 a.m. June 7 near Sun Valley Pavilion. Last year there were 283 runners including 215 in the half marathon. Once again, 10k and 5k courses will be offered. Cost is $70 plus fees for the half marathon, rising to $100 race day.
