New Soldier Mountain lodge part of larger development plan for resort

A “flying truss” is maneuvered into place last week during a busy day of construction on a new base lodge at Soldier Mountain near Fairfield. The resort’s lodge burned down in an electrical fire last March and is being replaced by a 4,500-square-foot building that will house a rental shop, ski school, cafeteria, bar and ticketing office. The lodge is scheduled to be complete when the mountain opens Dec. 15, depending on weather. Photo by Willy Cook
