Swimmers wrap up outdoor season with team wins

Season debuts at Rupert, Ketchum


Several team members clocked personal bests and the "A" girls won all three relays as the Wood River High School swim teams continued their early-season successes Saturday, Sept. 19 in Twin Falls.

The 12-school Twin Falls Invitational wrapped up the outdoor season and Wood River's girls' and boys' teams remained undefeated this fall. Hailey's girls were 449-308 winners over Twin Falls and the boys edged Century 277.5-239.

Girls' relay winners were Michael Coiner, Taylor Coiner, Elizabeth Fry and Tori Emerick in the 200 medley; Michael Coiner, Colby Werley, Tayler Bates and Lena Friesen in 200 free; the Coiners plus Werley and Friesen in the 400 free.

Individual golds went to Michael Coiner, Taylor Coiner, Lena Friesen, Colby Werley, Jon Atkinson and JT Sutton.

Next: Pocatello Invitational Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9:30 a.m. at Idaho State University. Wood River hosts its second and final home meet Saturday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. hosting Pocatello and Twin Falls at Wood River Community YMCA.

Nearly all the team members have met qualifying times for November's state championships in Boise. Here are individual placings from last Saturday's meet in Twin Falls:

Boys: Jon Atkinson 1—50 free and 2—100 back. Broadie Burrell 5—100 free. Bryce Ervin 5—100 breast and 4—100 free. Matt Lichtenberg 4—100 breast and 10—100 free. Adam Potts 3—100 free and 3—100 back. JT Sutton 1—200 free and 2—100 free.

Girls: Taylor Bates 2—200 IM and 3—100 free. Audrey Brassil 11—100 breast and 5—200 free. Michael Coiner 1—100 back. Taylor Coiner 1—100 fly and 3—100 back. Tori Emerick 4—100 back and 2—200 free. Lena Friesen 1—200 free and 1—100 free. Elizabeth Fry 2—200 fly and 2—100 breast. Lauren Lichtenberg 4—50 free and 6—100 breast. Ellie Shay 4—100 breast and 5—50 free. Chrystal Tullis 4—100 free and 5—100 breast. Colby Werley 1—50 free and 5—100 back.
