NEWS UPDATES:

Young Racers Get Early Start

The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, in partnership with Sun Valley Co., is holding an alpine ski training camp on the River Run side of Bald Mountain through today, Nov. 23. Nearly 80 kids are taking part. Forty are local and the remainder come from Bogus Basin, McCall, Kelly Canyon in eastern Idaho, and Mount Hood in Oregon. The early-season camp in Sun Valley allowed local kids to train close to home. "We're glad we can provide people with something that's more economical, so the burden of the cost of going ... someplace else is minimized," said Peter Stearns, mountain manager for Sun Valley Co. On Saturday, kids practiced the basics, working on techniques and skiing stubby, or short, gates.
