DeYong second among Zeitgeist women

Boise half marathon


Ketchum's Nicole DeYong, known primarily for her cross-country skiing achievements, hung up a second place among 570 women in the Zeitgeist Half Marathon 13.1-mile footrace Saturday, Nov. 5 on a paved and dirt road loop near Boise.

DeYong, 28, was second overall and 24th among all 1,012 finishers with a final time of 1.30:49. The women's winner was Boise's Maike Holthuijzen, 25, in 1.24:17. Men's winner was Bradley Bogdan, 23, of Buffalo, N.Y. with a 1.16:37 time.

Other Wood River and Fairfield runners did well on a challenging course with 1,181 feet of elevation gain. Bellevue's Anne Jeffery, 62, won her age class as did Dana Snell, 16, of Ketchum. Hailey's Jeff Ealey, 49, also earned a podium spot in third place.

In addition, Jennifer Schwartz, 41, of Hailey cracked the top 10 in Masters Women with a seventh place.
