Blaze consumes businesses

Damage estimated at $500,000

Ketchum Fire Department Captain Miles Canfield, the initial incident commander at a raging fire Sunday night at 271 Second Ave. North in central Ketchum, gets the ball rolling by establishing a plan to attack and contain the blaze. Although crews within five minutes had prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent structures and in 30 minutes had it contained, the intense heat and flames destroyed the building’s two businesses and three apartments. Express photo by Willy Cook
