Skaters show skills at Summer Championships

Sun Valley hosts annual competition

Sun Valley Figure Skating Club members had some promising results during the 36th annual Sun Valley Summer Skating Championships July 20-21 on resort ice. Over 162 skaters from 32 clubs competed in the event.

Taking first places in a variety of classes were seven Sun Valley skaters. They were Alyssa Krenz, Sierra Dickens, Kelly Collins, Julianna Lamb, Clare King, Emily O’Reilly and Devon Sherrerd.

In Showcase Pairs, Sun Valley’s Alagna Ashurst and Paul Conn picked up a second place while Alyssa Krenz and Julianna Lamb were third.

The local U.S. Figure Skating Association judges for the two-day event were Betsy Hauck, David Hold and Lolly Jensen of Sun Valley, and Barbara Stuns of Hailey.

Other judges were Joan Burns of Millbrae, Ca., Kris Hill of Salt Lake City, John Jackson of San Francisco and Susie Ostrem of Big Fork, Mt. Referee was Jack Searl of Salt Lake City.

Competition chair was Barbara Richardson and the accountant was Arlene Sibrell from Golden, Colo.
