Wood River Cup bikers are rolling

    Road & Dirt based in Hailey has announced summer’s offi-cial kickoff with the start of its 13th annual Wood River Cup short track mountain bike se-ries for the whole family.
   The Wednesday night racing series began Wednesday, May 28 and continues each Wednes-day evening in June through the double-point finals sched-uled for June 25.
   Croy Creek trailhead three-and-a-half miles west of Hailey is the site of two of the remain-ing races—June 11 and June 25. Old Cutters Park on the east side of Hailey is staging area of the other two events today, Wednesday June 4 and 18.
   The registration starts at 5 p.m. each Wednesday with rac-ing at 5:30 p.m. featuring Men’s Category 3, Junior Men 2/3 and Masters 45-plus Men. The Shi-mano Youth Series for 6-and-under pedal a lap on a special course at 6 p.m.
   Other classes are: At 6:10 p.m., Women’s Cat. 2/3, Junior Women and Masters 45-plus Women; at 6:40 p.m., Shimano youth ages 9-and-under fol-lowed by 12-and-under; and, at 7:10 p.m., the 45-minute races for Men’s Cat. 1/2, Masters Men and Junior Men Cat. 1.
   All kids 12-and-under re-ceive a medal for completing their races. There are prizes and awards for adults nightly and points for the overall title.
   Cost is $20 per day, $10 jun-iors, and you must have a cur-rent USA Cycling off-road rac-ing license that is available on a one-day basis at each race. The Shimano kids 12-and-under race for free.
