Music and you

Live (mostly free) acts all over the valley

How do the Young Dubliners keep it young?
“Having a whole album of new songs really invigorates the live show for us and makes it exciting all over again,” said lead singer Keith Roberts, in advance press for the band’s current tour. “It’s like a shot in the arm every time we go through the process.”
It is for fans as well, who honored a pledge drive to help The Dubs take the reins of their ninth studio album, “Nine” available online starting July 12.
The Dubs will be at the Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey for two nights, Sunday, July 7, and Monday, July 8. Tickets for the 9 p.m. shows are $15 in advance, a bit more at the door.
Slightly understated with the moniker of “Celtic rock,” The Dubs have more of a hybrid sound with an Irish foundation and a blistering stage show.

Or, stop by the Sun Valley Brewery tonight, July 3, get your tickets to the Young Dubliners, and enjoy the music of Joshua Powell and the Great Train Robbery. Their music has been compared to Bon Iver and The Lumineers. The show starts at 8:30 p.m.
Austin, Texas,-based George Devore will be back in the valley Thursday, July 4, at Mahoney’s in Bellevue for a free concert at 5:30 p.m.
Recently playing at the Braun Brothers Reunion, DeVore is making a mark with a worldly voice, honest songs and a stage presence that caused Playboy to name him a “pop powerhouse.”
Those headed north for the weekend might consider a stop at Redfish Lake Lodge, where the Shook Twins and their quirky Portland folk music will be playing from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, July, 7.
Chali 2Na—musician, painter, actor and self-proclaimed Renaissance man—will play at Whiskey Jacques’ in Ketchum on Sunday, July 9, at 9 p.m.
Mark Mueller, who will be at Lefty’s in Ketchum on Sunday, July 7, is an American songwriter whose career spans pop music, television, film and stage. A two-time winner of the ASCAP Pop Award for writing one of the Most Performed Songs of the year, he’s had three Billboard Top 10 singles and one No. 1 Adult Contemporary hit.
This is just a summary of some of the music. Check with your favorite venue for any changes or additions to the week’s lineup.
