The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation will throw a party today, Nov. 22, to celebrate the grand opening of a newly remodeled training facility and office complex at the base of the Warm Springs lifts in Ketchum.
Idaho Lt. Gov. Brad Little will be on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m., along with local dignitaries, foundation board members and coaches, Executive Director Rob Clayton, and representatives of neighboring businesses in the Greyhawk Alpine Center, including Apple’s Bar & Grill, Sturtevants, Sun Valley Heli- Ski and Irving’s.
Spike Coggins will provide live music. Apple’s and Irving’s will provide food and beverages. Doors will be open from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

We want people to see our new home and also witness the beginning of a new era in the history of the SVSEF.”

“We want people to see our new home and also witness the beginning of a new era in the history of the SVSEF,” Clayton said.
The new Engl Training Center is replete with state-of-the-art features, dedicated locker rooms, a workout space, audio-visual amenities, a tuning and waxing room, and ski and boot storage.
The $700,000 remodel of the facility follows the SVSEF’s designation earlier this year as operator of an official Olympic and Paralympic cross-country training site, along with the Blaine County Recreation District and Sun Valley Resort.
Founded in 1966, the nonprofit SVSEF has trained numerous world-class skiers and snowboarders, including 18 Olympians.
The organization supports more than 500 local athletes, including several who may be competing in February at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
The SVSEF also celebrates today being named the 2013 Club of the Year and 2013 Snowboard Club of the Year awards from the United States Ski & Snowboard Association.
“None of this would have come to fruition without the generous support of our SVSEF community and the community at-large,” said foundation Communications Director Jody Zarkos in a prepared statement.
“We are truly thankful for all the help we have received, whether it was in the form of kids coming in to move boxes, a contractor providing discounted services or people donating what they can. It’s been a true collaboration by many and we would like everyone the community to come celebrate with us,” Zarkos said.
