The Senior Connection of Hailey staged its fourth annual Road Runner 5k (3.1-mile) fun run/walk to raise funds for Blaine County’s only “Meals on Wheels” program on Saturday, Sept. 21 along Hailey streets.

Event organizer Kimberly Coonis, executive director of The Senior Connection, said there were 70 runners with special prizes going to the first-place man and woman, the first runner over 60 years of age, and the first person under age 18.

Josh Switzer (19:49) was the fastest man. Julie Carney (22:36) was the fastest female, in second place overall. Dick Andersen (23:46) was the fastest 60-and-over runner, in third place overall. Landon Nurge (25:41) was the fastest 18-and-under runner, in fifth place overall.

“It was a great time for everyone,” said Coonis. “The event raises awareness of a program that serves the entire Wood River Valley. The entry fee of each person provides food for a homebound person for a week.”
