Jaquet appointed to health board

Full Senate confirms committee’s nomination

Former legislator and current Ketchum resident Wendy Jaquet was appointed to the Department of Health and Welfare board last week.

Jaquet had previously been confirmed by a Senate committee and was approved by the full Senate on Friday. She succeeds Dan Fuchs, a pharmacist from Twin Falls.

“As the department continues to face economic uncertainty and issues such as health-care reform, Wendy’s guidance and legislative experience will be invaluable,” said Richard Armstrong, director of the Department of Health and Welfare. “We are pleased to welcome her.”

The board is made up of 11 members who adopt, amend and repeal rules and standards of the department.

Jaquet served nine terms in the Idaho House of Representatives and served on several committees, including the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee and the Health and Welfare Committee. She has a master’s degree in public administration.

Jaquet is expected to serve on the board until her term expires in January 2017.
