Alpine kids wrap up at McCall, Big Sky

IMD finals, Western J3s

McCall's Brundage Mountain and Montana's Bridger Bowl and Big Sky Resort were the destinations of 37 Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation alpine ski racers last weekend.

Intermountain Division Championships for J3 through J5 age classes (ages 9-14) brought 103 girls and 104 boys from Idaho, Utah and Wyoming to McCall for North Series tech racing Friday through Sunday.

Earning SVSEF podiums were J5 (ages 9-10) Kinder Kombi winner and giant slalom bronze medalist Wyatt Minor; J5 Kinder Kombi and slalom silver medalist Lily Fitzgerald; J5 GS bronze winner Madison Ferris; and J4 (11-12) Kinder Kombi gold medalist and GS silver winner Katelyn Rathfon.

There were 93 boys and 75 girls in Montana for the Western Region J3 (ages 13-14) Championships Friday through Sunday. SVSEF kids filled 12 of those berths and did well.

Taylor Cooper posted the top result with Saturday's second place out of 92 starters in giant slalom. Among the girls, Haley Cutler narrowly missed the podium with a fourth place of 75 starters in Saturday's GS.

SVSEF placings by race are listed for the two events:
