Middle school runners cap unbeaten season

Hailey girls capture another gold trophy


The Wood River Middle School girls’ cross country team carried off another Magic Valley Confer-ence first-place trophy Oct. 13 at the Dierkes Lake Invitational in Twin Falls and capped an un-beaten season.      Placing five runners in the top 11, WoodRiverMiddle School girls’ cross country won the Dierkes Invitational meet Oct. 13 in Twin Falls and capped an unbeaten season.

     Top results were: 4—Autumn Fluetsch. 5—Amy Cantrell. 7—Annika Landis. 8—Amanda Passey. 11—Brooke Sundholm. For the Hailey boys, Nelson Cantrell had a third-place finish. Others were: 34—Austin Shetler. 49—Carlos Hurtado. 55—John Carney. 57—Brady Delgadillo.

     WRMS teams also competed in cold rain Sept. 29 at the Robert Stuart Invitational in Twin Falls. Landon Schley had a fine second-place boys’ finish. Girls’ placings were: 4—Annika Landis. 5—Autumn Fluetsch. 7—Amanda Passey. 8—Brooke Sundholm. 9—Amy Cantrell.

     Coaches Bill Cantrell and Kristin Cassalia said they were proud to be part of this special team. Cantrell said, “They showed improvement, determination and true team spirit every week.”
