Over 200 due for Lyle Pearson holiday tennis

At Sun Valley starting Saturday

It should be a good holiday weekend of tennis as the Sun Valley Tennis Club once again hosts the Lyle Pearson 4th of July Tennis Championships Saturday through Monday, July 2-4 on the resort courts.

Tournament director David Perry said the U.S. Tennis Association Intermountain tourney has the largest purse in the GemState, offering prize money in Men’s Open and Women’s Open divisions. Non-USTA players are entered in 3.5 to 5.0, and 7.0-9.0 mixed classes.

Perry said, “We once again have over 200 entrants. We have entrants from all over the country which is pretty cool.

“The Men's Open is larger than last year with a full 16 draw. The Women's open features defending champion Bianca Mok of Boise. She is 14. The Men's 4.0 is huge and features quite a few locals. All the mixed doubles are great draws.”

The Player’s Party is Sunday, July 3.
