The Wood River High School and the Wood River Middle School singing groups have joined under the direction on Max Stimac to present a performance called "This Is the Moment" on Thursday, March 3. The show will take place at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood at 7 p.m. The concert is free but donations are welcome.

The gala concert, the third for the 2010-11 season, will feature the Wood River High School's 84-voice Concert Choir, the girls' vocal ensemble Enchanté, the men's ensemble B-Tones, the Wood River Middle School's Prelude Choir and the eighth-grade performing group Magique. All total, 120 kids will sing for "This Is the Moment" performance.

The concert is a "dry-run" show in preparation for the high-school groups' trip to Anaheim, Calif., this spring to compete in the Heritage Music Festival.

"We are trying to get the kids into their performance mood to be prepared when they are at the competition," Stimac said. "We want to perform every detail exact."

Stimac said the music the students will perform for the competition is difficult but they have been working very hard.

Hailey resident Jim Watkinson, who plays piano at the high school and middle school, is the accompanist for the choirs. The B-Tones and Enchanté are led by R.L. Rowsey and Magique is directed by Stimac. Stimac has been teaching for nine years as the choral program director for Wood River High School and Wood River Middle School.

"All proceeds from donations will go to student scholarships for the trip," Stimac said. "Some kids are still have some financial struggles."
