Rotarun opens for night and weekend skiing

This weekend

Hailey's Rotarun Ski Area, a fun, family-oriented slope located west of the city, will open for the 2011 season with night skiing Friday, Jan. 21 and weekend day skiing Jan. 22-23.

You can ski under the lights at Rotarun from 6-9 p.m. starting Friday, and you can come back to Art Richards Mountain and do the weekend skiing thing each Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Honoring the tradition of Art Richards, there will be free skiing for Friday's opening night. Donations are always accepted. The regular fee for night skiing is $12 per person.

Bellevue's Lorna Kolash, a veteran to the culinary world of the Wood River Valley, is providing food service for the ski season. Be sure to visit Rotarun for a hamburger and enjoy the atmosphere with friends.

The dates for annual youth ski races like the Arkoosh Cup and Slush Cup at Rotarun will be announced.

Daily lift passes are $18 for adults, $12 for juniors ages 11-17, $8 for children ages 5-10, and $5 for tots 4-and-under. On sale are Rotarun season passes at $249 for a family of four ($50 additional family members), $145 adults, $90 juniors, $70 children and $55 for tots.

Call Rotarun at 788-6204 for details. The ski area is three miles west of Hailey out Croy Canyon, at Rodeo Drive.
