Youth football practices start Monday


The 11th fall season of the Wood River Youth Football development program for ages 7-11 and the cheerleading program (ages 8-12) begins Monday, Aug. 9 with a series of practice sessions at Hailey's Wood River Middle School.

Be sure to bring birth certificates and proof of insurance. New players are welcome and will be signed up Monday.

Half-an-hour sessions for flag football (ages 7-8, $60) begin Monday at 4:30 p.m., followed by the tackle football sessions (ages 9-12, $140) in the 9-year-old (at 5 p.m.), 10-year-old (at 5:30 p.m.) and 11-year-old (6 p.m.) groups. Cheerleading is for those ages 8-12, cost $75, meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

This year, the 12-year-olds will play seventh-grade football at the middle school.

The Boise Jamboree and official weigh-ins are Saturday, Aug. 21, then games under the auspices of Boise Noon Optimist begin Aug. 28 and are held each Saturday through Oct. 16, with the exception of Sept. 4.
