Sports summary

One-Pitch tournament

The Wyett Livingston/Stone Memorial Fundraiser one-pitch softball tournament is planned for Friday through Sunday, June 18-20 at Lions Park in Hailey. Players in the Hailey Coed Softball League, headed by Kenny Nelson and Mike Beall, are coordinating the three-day Father's Day weekend tournament.

A maximum of 17 teams will be accepted, for a fee of $175 per team. It is a double elimination tournament where your own pitcher serves up the offerings to your own team—and you must hit the first pitch regardless of its location (although one foul ball is permitted).

The tournament is held in honor of 3-month-old Wyett Jacquelyn Livingston, who died peacefully from sudden infant death syndrome on May 18.

The signup and entry fee deadline is today, Wednesday, June 16. Contact Beall at 720-6842.

If for some reason you can't participate in the tournament, donations can be made to the Wyett Livingston Memorial Fund, care of her grandmother Jolene Stone, at Pioneer Federal Credit Union, Hailey.

Pool "Fun Raiser"

Wood River Valley law enforcement officers are teaming up with Special Olympians for what they call a "Swim Fun Raiser" on Wednesday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Blaine County Aquatic Center in Hailey.

Mike Crawford of the Sun Valley Police Department said the goal is to have an officer from each Wood River Valley jurisdiction in the valley teaming up with Special Olympians in a fun relay format.

Officers, athletes, coaches and volunteers will collect pledges. All the money raised will be used by the Sun Valley Adaptive Sports Special Olympics "Steelheads" swim program to offset equipment and travel expenses associated with attending competitions.

Submit pledge sheets by June 22 by FAX to 726-6791, by email to shauna@svasp.org or by calling 726-9298.

Blaine County baseball

In the season-ending tournament, the Killer Bees won the Blaine County Recreation District's 9-10 year old championship over Tamarack Sports. The Bees were coached by Matt Buxton and Anthony Naghsh.

Led be Sean Moore and Terry Wall, the Orange Bombers captured the 11-12 year old title over Wood River Inn.

BCRD would like to thank its sponsors for helping to create fun recreational opportunities for Blaine County youth, including Uhrig Fencing, Smith Optics, Wood River Inn, Power Engineers, River Run Auto Parts, Whitehead Landscaping, Tamarack Sports, Rico's Pizza & Pasta, Merrick Construction, Tanner Construction, Sawtooth Wood Products, Shorty's Diner, Donnelly Sports, and D.L.
