Company of Fools brings to life one of the finest American dramas, "The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams, beginning tonight through Saturday, March 13, at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. Under the direction of Denise Simone, "The Glass Menagerie" will feature David Janeski, Adam Kroeger, Claudia McCain and Aly Wepplo.
"It's not a museum piece," said Adam Kroeger who plays Tom. "It's real and alive."
The play is about Amanda, a single parent, who is determined to improve the lives of her children. Her daughter Laura is withdrawn within her illusionary world, and her son Tom is rebellious and yearns for adventure. The play uses humor and pathos to examine a family that is unraveling and lost in their individual fantasies and dreams.
"There are many layers, and we will not get through them all before we are done," said McCain who plays Amanda. "It takes up all of my head space."
Simone said it's a humorous piece and reveals a fierce love between family members. The play features a new cast member for the Company of Fools, Adam Kroeger, who plays the gentleman caller.
"He walked in for a general audition," Simone said. "He read and we casted him. That kinda of timing does not happen all the time."
Kroeger grew up in Wendell and has moved back to the area after receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from Central Washington University.
