Sun Valley mountain bike queen Rebecca Rusch is the reigning three-time 24-hour Solo Mountain Biking World Champion and the 2009 Leadville Trail 100 Women's Champion. The Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race climbs 14,000 feet in elevation in Leadville, Colo. Rusch won and shared the podium with Lance Armstrong.

While Rusch and Armstrong were handling the grueling terrain, a documentary film crew was not far behind capturing the experience. "Race Across the Sky" premiered in New York City and its demand to be seen has launched a mountain tour of the film, which will kick-off in Sun Valley on Thursday, Feb. 25.

The film will be shown at the Sun Valley Opera House at 8 p.m. with tickets available at the door. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. A pre-party at The Elephant's Perch will take place at 6 p.m.

The event will benefit the Wood River Bike Coalition. Mountain Rides will have a courtesy shuttle from Hailey at the Park-n-Ride, Powerhouse and East Fork to The Elephant's Perch. The shuttle will continue to the movie presentation at the Opera House. After the film, the shuttle will take moviegoers back to The Elephant's Perch and continue on to stops in Hailey. For details, call 788-7433 or visit mountainrides.org.

"It's more an inspirational film," Rusch said. "It's for all people from recreational persons to Lance Armstrong. The film is really about Lance. I have never been in a film before, and it was an honor."

Rusch said the film is a good movie especially to promote cycling and pedestrian advocacy in the valley. The Wood River Bike Coalition is having an official launch at the film event with its new Executive Director Greg Martin.
