Warning!

By CHRIS MILLSPAUGH

Don't you love the disclaimers of some of the pharmaceutical products that you hear on the radio and see on television commercials? And, try reading the labels on the actual products - undecipherable. On radio and TV, the announcer reads the disclaimer so fast that it might as well be in Swahili.

I purchased one of these products the other day, got a magnifying glass and this is what it said: "Consult your physician, lawyer, accountant, stock broker and religious leader before taking this product. Don't take this product if you are currently suffering from rickets, scurvy, shingles, malaria or dandruff. Do not take this product while operating a snowmobile, forklift, bulldozer, crane or a chain saw. It is not recommended to dance, shuffle, sidle, skip or teeter while using this product. Refrain from pumping gas, taking out the trash, going on a date, ordering over the Internet and changing channels on a HD Television. Do not swallow while gargling, whistling, yodeling, pronouncing words or saying 'ahhh' at the dentist's office. Keep away from children, strangers, in-laws, salesmen and architects. Never whittle, place a bet, try to make love, skip a rock or howl at the moon while taking this product. If you find yourself seeing double, plowing into a ditch, agreeing to meet an insurance agent at your house, desiring to have another child or paying your bills early, immediately cease taking this product. Never make a phone call, open an account, use food stamps, ride in a balloon or try to write a humor column while taking this product."

I took the product back and am actually feeling much better. Read the labels, folks.

Nice talking to you.
