The Sawtooth Botanical Garden recently announced the formation of an Advisory Council for improvements to the organization's greenhouse renovation project. Members of this new committee include Chairperson Gail Severn, Kathleen Phelan Britt, Sue Dumke, Dan Hunt, Carolyn Lister, Ali Long, Michelle Stennett and Jane Sturdivant.

The Advisory Council was formed to help guide, advise and assist the existing board of trustees to continue accomplishing certain goals. The new members were unanimously endorsed by trustee recommendations for contributions to the Garden through financial support, professional guidance or dedicated volunteer work.

In addition, Britt was recognized for her contribution to the Greenhouse Renovation Project during a special ribbon cutting ceremony held immediately following the 13th Annual Garden Tour, on July 12. The Greenhouse Renovation Project will help improve the existing structure to meet the needs of the Garden's education programs and as a "premiere community asset and regional destination," SBG Executive Director Jennifer Colson said.

The plan calls for tall canopy trees to "showcase useful plants, including tropical fruits, while providing shade," Colson said. Large landscape boulders will provide structural interest as well as seating for kid's activities and classes. As well, there will be water features and new lighting so that it can be used at any time of the day.

The Sawtooth Botanical Garden, located south of Ketchum, is open daily from dawn until dusk; admission is free. For more information call 726-9358.
