Fire crews stop North Fork Fire cold
About 24 hours after its discovery Tuesday afternoon, Sawtooth National Forest and U.S. Bureau of Land Management fire crews, including the pilot at the controls of this BLM helicopter, were able to gain the upper hand on a lightning-caused fire northwest of Ketchum. Dubbed the North Fork Fire, the blaze on the west side of the Big Wood River near the Sawtooth National Recreation Area headquarters was declared under control by 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 23.
