RESULTS

Casino 13, Firefighters 8

It was a pitcher's duel and defensive showcase for the first few innings of the season's first game Wednesday night, but the Casino got its bats in gear in the 4-run home fourth for a 5-0 lead. Matt Stacey (2 hits) drilled a one-out triple and then the 6-7-8-9-10 batters in the lineup all ripped singles—Lisa Valdama, Austen Bristow, Jill Morse (2 hits), Dave Penn (2 hits) and Melinda Milner (2 hits). Finally, the bell rang for the Firefighters in the visitor sixth. They scored 6 runs on 7 hits for a brief 8-6 lead. Doing the damage were singles by Tyler Corrock, Julian Storm, Karly Maratea, Keith Potter (2 hits), Becky Simpson (2 hits, double) and Noah Tunney, then Ed Binnie belted a double. The Casino answered with 7 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks in the home sixth—doubles by Stacey and Bristow (2 runs) the big blows as the winners batted around.

Color Haus 12, Lefty's Bar & Grill 7

In Wednesday's other season opener, the bats of both teams were red hot from the get-go, Lefty's scoring 3 runs in the visitor first after hits by Buff Rixon (4 hits), Brenda Blackwell, Wendy Speth and Dave Hausmann, and Color Haus firing back with 5 runs on 5 hits in the home half. Color Haus leadoff hitter Bryan Burrell (3 hits) started it with a double, Kathy Harper delivered an RBI single and, with two outs, Shannon Webb and Josh Jacobson (2 hits, 2 runs) ripped RBI hits. Burrell's RBI double stretched Color Haus' lead to 8-4 in a 3-run fourth. Then, in the home sixth, Eric Demment (2 hits) cleared the bases with a 3-run HR for a 12-5 lead. Lefty's (14 hits) came back with 2 runs in the seventh on hits by Tony Mallane, Kyle Rushton (2 hits) and Rixon but it wasn't enough. Color Haus (17 hits): MJ Musselman 2 hits and 2 runs. Lefty's: Bryan Speth 2 hits, Anthony Anderson 2 runs.

Principal Recruiting/Group Six 23, Elevate/Stafftopia 2 (5 innings)

It was the Tom Moreland track show at West Ketchum Coliseum as Principal's #3 hitter belted 4, count 'em, 4 inside-the-park homers and wound up with 5 hits and 4 runs for the run-rule Wednesday nightcap. The recruiters ran wild with 8 runs in the fourth and 7 runs on 6 hits in the fifth and final frame—leadoff hitter Geoff Gardner (4 hits, triple, 2 runs) setting the table for the 17-hit barrage. Principal Recruiting: Rod Watson 3 hits (2 triples, 2 runs), Dawn Hunt (2 runs), Chad Pringle (2 hits, 3 runs), Karen Morrison (4 hits, 2 runs), Jim Carlsen (3 runs) and Heather Linhart (3 runs). Elevate managed only 5 hits, by Dan Goldstein, Shana Sweitzer, Gregg Fairfield, Jeff Rust and Rosa Kim.

KECH Radio/Bald Mtn. Realty 18, Lee Gilman Builders 3 (5 innings)

Leadoff hitter D. Moloney (4 hits, HR, 2 doubles, triple, 3 runs, 4 RBI) was the big gun for KECH, with Sean Harrington (3 hits, triple, double, 2 runs) and Lenny Joseph (2 hits, 3 runs) chipping in.
