Sun Valley riders shine at Jackson Hole

Sun Valley snowboarders went from the pipe to the podium with equal aplomb at a USASA Intermountain snowboarding competition in Jackson Hole, Wyo., Jan. 19-21.

"We took 27 kids and we dominated every age group," coach Josh Keefer said.

Kenny Ballou was unbeatable, winning the Open Class in every event. "Kenny was awesome. He had a great weekend," Keefer said.

Heather Black, Ali Appleton and Chase Josey pulled down two wins apiece in pipe. Other class champs were Hailey Rheinschild, Wyatt Bunce and Quinn Baser.

"There was pretty strong competition in every age group. It was an awesome weekend," Keefer said.

The three-day event featured two halfpipe contests and one slopestyle with 65 to 115 competitors depending on the day. Placings by day and race:

Halfpipe/slopestyle/halfpipe

Breaker Girls (12-13): Hailey Rheinschild 1/2/2; Noe Garing 3/3/3. Breaker Boys (12-13): Chase Josey 1/4/1; Ryan Roemer 3/2/6; Nathan Kniffen 9/NS/5; Michael Nero 10/NS/NS.

Youth Women (14-15): Ali Appleton 1/4/1; Josie Bunce 2/2/2; Bria Gillespie 3/NS/3; Kathryn Caminiti 4/NS/4. Youth Men (14-15): Ross Bird 2/NS/2; Mal Prior 6/NS/NS; Reed Burdge 7/5/6; Sam Strong 8/NS/9; Cody Swenke 10/NS/NS: Hayden Burdge NS/6/7; Gavin Admire NS/7/NS.

Junior women: Heather Black 1/2/1. Junior Men: Wyatt Bunce 1/8/2; Quinn Baser 2/5/1; Cary Reinemann 5/11/8; Rusty Williams 6/10/7; Britton Stevenson 8/NS/9; John Martin 9/6/5.

Open Class: Kenny Ballou 1/1/1.
