Leonard Cass Stevenson


Dr. Leonard Cass Stevenson passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2007. He was born on Jan. 26, 1927, in Los Angeles, Calif. He was 80 years young.

He was raised in love at McKinley Home for Boys in Van Nuys, Calif. He attended Van Nuys High School and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Navy where he became chief navigator on an LST ship. Leonard graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, and then received his doctoral from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.

He was president of the Van Nuys Junior Chamber of Commerce, president of Van Nuys Toastmasters, president of Van Nuys Rotary Club, and was the Chamber of Commerce's Man of the Year. Leonard was an Eagle Scout and served many years as Scoutmaster for Troop 431 of Encino, Calif.

Dr. Stevenson was a true healer and well versed in the healing sciences with a doctoral in nutrition, iridology, homeopathy, chiropractic, Chinese medicine and acupuncture. He continued his naturopathic practice of 53 years until his death.

Leonard lived life to the fullest through hiking, tennis, skiing, woodworking, reading, scuba diving, motorcycle riding and boat building. His passions of woodworking and boat building culminated in13 years with the completion of his 36-foot Herald trimaran, "Tridina" which he sailed up and down the West Coast with the love of his life and wife, Dina.

He is survived by his wife, Dina E. Stevenson; his son, L. Kelly Stevenson; his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Stevenson; his four grandchildren, Taylor, Britton, Paige and Stratton Stevenson; his brother, Lawrence Stevenson; and his nephew, Curtis Stevenson. He joins his beloved son Scott Stevenson and grandson Nicholas Stevenson in peace.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 22, at the Light on the Mountains Spiritual Center, located at 12446 Highway 75, near Ketchum, (208) 727-1631. Additional parking will be located at the East Fork signal and Highway 75 with shuttle bus. God's Love and Light to all.
