Wood River falls to Filer 52-28

Girls? basketball team hosts Mountain Home next


The Wood River girl's basketball team fell to 3-7 for the season with a 52-28 road loss Tuesday to the 5-5 Filer Wildcats.

The Wolverines hung close in the first quarter trailing only 10-9 when it ended, but fell further behind in the second period to trail at half 24-18.

Third period play kept the Wolverines in the game, but the Wildcats blew it open in the final frame, outscoring Wood River 18-2 for the victory.

Junior Lauren Morganthaler led the Wolverines in scoring with 14 points. Senior Kristen Miniard hit two three-pointers to give her six points for the game.

The Wildcats were led by Hailey Ramseyer with 21.

The Wolverines next host Mountain Home at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Junior varsity action starts at 6 p.m.

Richfield 70, Carey 28

The Carey High School girl's basketball team suffered a 70-28 drubbing at the hands of the high-powered Richfield Tigers Tuesday in Richfield.

The 9-0 Tigers continued their domination of the Magic Valley Northside Conference, dropping the Panthers to 4-5.

Allison Shaffer scored 10 points to lead the Panthers. She was followed by Jessica Parke with nine.

Cassie Wood led Richfield with 24 points. She was followed by Angela Kent with 16 and Michelle Kent with 10.

The Carey girls played in Fairfield against Camas County Thursday evening. Tonight they host The Community School at 6 p.m. The junior varsity game starts at 4:30 p.m.
