Zeitgeist, City of Trees draw over 1,000 runners

Half marathons and a marathon

The weather was a little "iffy" all weekend in Boise, in fact, Sunday was very wet, but the conditions didn't stop 1,109 runners from completing back-to-back footraces on 26.2-mile and 13.1-mile courses.

Saturday's Zeitgeist half marathon attracted the biggest field of 536 finishers, but Sunday's City of Trees Marathon (263 runners) and Half Marathon (310) did pretty well, too.

Thirty-five Wood River Valley runners did well in the two events with some solid times and age class placings.

Hailey's Brad Mitchell, 35, placed eighth of 151 finishers and fourth in his age class in the 26.2-mile outing at 2.59:03.

The top two male runners were Patrick McCurry, 28, of Meridian in 2.36:28 and Michael Carlson, 46, of Boise in 2.42:00. The winning marathon woman was Angie Radosevich, 30, of Eugene, Ore. at 2.59:12.

Wood River High School teacher John Radford, 44, won his age class in Sunday's City of Trees half marathon with a time of 1.44:17, good for 37th place overall. Just ahead of Radford was another Wood River teacher, James Foster, 35, in 26th overall and sixth in his age class with a 1.38:23 time.

The City of Trees 13.1-mile men's winner was Bob Daniel, 42, of Walla Walla, Wash. in 1.21:48. The women's winner was Kelsey Jones, 24, 1.23:42.

In Saturday's Zeitgeist 13.1-miler, 38-year-old Jim Hilding (1.29:54) placed 17th overall of 536 finishers. The winner was Jeremy Kirk, 26, of Mountain Home Air Force Base in 1.14:07.

Four locals cracked the top ten in Masters rankings for the Zeitgeist. Matt Morell was eighth and Will Raff 10th for the men, and Kathy Morell and Bridget Cimino were 6-7 in the Masters' woman rankings.
