TU hosts backcountry fishing presentation

The Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited invites TU members as well as the community on Tuesday, Oct. 12, for an evening with veteran forest ranger and photographer Ed Cannady at the Community Campus in Hailey. Cannady has done extensive fly fishing and backpacking in Southern Idaho and has orchestrated an interesting slide show of his journey throughout the region. His show is a stimulating description of numerous backpacking destinations with useful information about fishing in the backcountry. Cannady's images capture the pristine beauty of Idaho and his commentary provides inviting information on backcountry fishing.

Trout Unlimited is a national organization that is actively preserving and protecting cold water fisheries habitat across the nation. The Hemingway Chapter is involved with river and stream conservation in the Wood River Valley, as well as surrounding areas. The chapter currently has about 150 members.

?We are fortunate to have healthy rivers and streams in our area. Their health, however, is not self-sustaining,? said Carmen Northen, chapter president. Whether you enjoy angling in Idaho, or just picnicking streamside, Idaho Trout Unlimited is dedicated to promoting and maintaining these natural resources for anyone who appreciates and respects their splendor. There are more than 25,000 miles of river systems in Idaho and almost 500,000 acres of lakes and reservoirs. Idaho TU is committed to the preservation of these cold water habitats.

So, join the Hemingway TU chapter at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Campus, Room 211, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey. Chapter officers will also discuss local projects that benefit the Big Wood River. If you are already a member of Trout Unlimited, then bring a friend with you.
