WrapCity is
Town Series winner

Consistency is what counts in the Sun
Valley Co.-Budweiser 2003 Town Series—and no team was more consistent than
WrapCity during the seven-week racing series on Baldy’s Cozy run.
WrapCity, scoring only one point over the
course of the 12th annual series in which low score wins, won the team title. A
total 29 four-member teams and 116 racers took part in the Wednesday racing.

The top five Town Series teams after Week
Seven ended March 19 were: 1—WrapCity (.23). 2—Apple’s (3.61). 3—210 Picabo
Street Gang (3.74). 4—Scott USA (3.79). 5—South Slope Sliders (4.04).
On WrapCity were Sarah Curtis, Jeff
Sarchett, Lilly Davies and Steve Hedrick. On Apple’s were Hank Minor, Ed Uhrig,
Pat Savaria and Larry Anderson.
Members of third-place 210 Picabo Street
were Bob Berry, Chris Key, Mike Shanks and Sean Murphy. On Scott USA were Jeff
Page, John Zuck, Toby Arnett and John Reagle.
Organizer Barry Irwin was pleased that
South Slope Sliders, in their first attempt at Town Series racing, ended up with
their names on the Cup.
He said about the Sliders team of Sue
Conner, Sam Adicoff, Kris Jarvis and Scot Jarvis, "They’re not really racers,
but they’re all good skiers. That’s exactly what the Town Series tries to be all
about."
The names of all 20 racers on the top five
teams were placed in a hat—with four names drawn out to win the four 2003-04
season ski passes donated to the Town Series by Sun Valley Co.
Ski pass winners were Steve Hedrick of
WrapCity, Kris Jarvis of South Slope, Sean Murphy of 210 Picabo Street and Toby
Arnett of Scott USA.
On the Week Seven podium—results based on
combined two runs—were Robin Sarchett 54.04, Jeff Sarchett 55.60 and Matt Murphy
57.41.
Women’s top three were Sarah Curtis 64.38
in 14th place overall, Sonja Mandeville 64.51 in 16th and Stephanie Monaco 66.43
in 22nd.
Jeff Sarchett, who only scored once,
captured four of seven race wins and captured the overall men’s title. Robin
Sarchett and Olin Glenne won the other two races. Sarah Curtis, winner of five
races, was women’s overall champ.
"The Dream Team," racers who never scored
a point, were Tom Shanklin of Rainbow Warriors, Sean Murphy of 210 Picabo
Street, Neil Jessen of Casino, Lilly Davies of WrapCity and Brent Ellis,
Starheat.
Shanklin was also the First Guy to Get
Chicked by Sarah when he placed 15th in Week Seven.
"It was a good year," said Irwin.
