Sanders, the Colonel
of the course

Wood River golf

For the second straight outing Wood River’s Scott Sanders was the medalist at a prep golf meet.

Sanders bagged his second individual honor this season by firing an 18-hole 73 at Pleasant Valley Country Club near Kimberly Tuesday. The course is a par 67.

"He is golfing really well. Just doing great," coach John Braafladt remarked.

Sophomore Cooper McCroskey carded his low score of the season, a 79, to place fifth. In his first outing this season, Tate Mills scored 81 to tie teammate Alex Bliss for seventh place. Tristan Beckman carded an 89.

"Four kids in the top ten really helped our scoring," Braafladt noted.

Wood River won the meet with a combined 314 to edge runner-up Filer by one stroke. Hagerman (329) was third and Valley (415) fourth.

For the first time this season, Wood River fielded a full girls team and placed second, two strokes behind Valley, 415 to 417. Filer was third.

The Wolverines claimed third through fifth place. Lisa Feldhusen led the charge with a 92. Rachel Pace carded a 102 and Adrianna Maniere came in at 106. Haley Stommel shot 117.

"They were awesome results. The kids played great," Braafladt remarked.

Hailey will get an up close look a district opponents at a meet at Burley Municipal this Tuesday, April 20.

"Declo, Filer, Gooding and Buhl will be there. It will be our first real test," Braafladt said.
