Brown pops
a sixth in GS

At Spring Series


Sun Valley’s Zachary Brown continued a consistent week of ski racing by popping a sixth in giant slalom Monday at the Western Elite FIS (International Ski Federation) Spring Series in Mammoth, Ca.

Brown, 19, was only 3.01 seconds off the winning pace of Ted Ligety in a field of 100 racers finishing Monday’s GS. Brown also posted finishes of 13th and 27th in super giant slalom, 17th and 13th in slalom.

About 225 of the West’s best junior ski racers competed including 12 from Sun Valley. Ten of 12 races were in the books after Monday, with only men’s GS and women’s SL left.

Other top finishes: Sean Higgins 10th slalom; Hailey Duke 12th in super giant slalom; Lauren Eder 15th slalom; and Robin Sarchett 21st SL.
