Bowling pins
fall in bunches

For WRWBA women in city meet

Wood River Glass & Mirror waltzed off with the team championship by 25 pins in the Wood River Women’s Bowling Association’s annual tournament staged March 6-7 at Mountain Sun Lanes, Bellevue.

Cindy Maxwell, Tamra Burden, Sherri Vollmer, Real Weatherly and Karla Williams made up the Hailey-based WR Glass & Mirror squad that piled up 3,089 pins for first place over runner-up Glendale Construction/US Bank of Carey (3,064).

The doubles winners in the two-day tournament were Amanda Black and Karla Williams (1,248).

ArborCare bowler Cathy Showalter (685) of Hailey was the handicap singles champion at the tournament, and she also claimed the all-events handicap crown (1,870) and all-events scratch 149-and-under title (1,459).

Hailey’s Jolene Stone, who averages 196, assembled the best scratch series (646) and top single-game (245) at the city meet, and she also captured the all-events scratch 150-and-up title with a score of 1,691, ahead of Karla Williams 1,620. Williams averages 185.

Other 200 tournament games were rolled by Laurie Wolfley 232, Jolene Stone 217 and 210, Karla Williams 215, 204 and 202, Cathy Showalter 211 and Vicky Jones 202. Karla Williams had the only other 600 scratch series at the city meet with a 621.
