go for gold in Boise

If skate sharpeners at Sturtevants are wondering why they have been so busy lately they should check out the schedule for the Wells Fargo Winter Games.

This weekend’s 15^th annual hockey tournament, staged at Ice World in Boise, features 32 teams, including eight from the Sun Valley area.

Local squads include 2003 runner-up Whitehead Landscaping in the Advanced A division, which also features a squad from Boise State University.

The Sawtooth Rangers (last year’s silver medalist) and Silver Blades (bronze medalist) will play in the six team Intermediate A class.

The Chiefs and Vipers will vie for first in the nine-team B division. Last year the Chiefs won the C bracket championship, 4-3 over Play It Again Sports.

There are two women’s divisions, the four-team B bracket and the two-team A. The Fury and Fury Too will go for gold against the Goaldiggers and Thomas in the B class. The defending champion Sunsets will play the Boise Blades twice to decide the A victor.

There is no admission charge for spectators.
