Brown announces her council election bid

"The future of Hailey is dependent upon our sound commitment to guiding growth,"

— CAROL BROWN, Hailey City Council

By MATT FURBER
Express Staff Writer

Hailey City Councilwoman Carol Brown has announced that she will run for the office in November’s city election. Brown was appointed last November to fill a vacancy.

"Being on the city council has been challenging and very rewarding," said Brown. "Hailey is growing quite rapidly. The number of development applications has substantially increased in the past year, placing tremendous pressure on the city."

Brown hopes that her planning and zoning background will help guide growth in the valley and help the city to maintain a "sense of community" as it moves forward.

"The future of Hailey is dependent upon our sound commitment to guiding growth," she said.

A former ski patroller and forester, Brown is also steeped in community activism. She was granted the "Spirit of Idaho" award presented by Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, in 2000 for assisting the Wood River Winter Coalition, a group seeking collaborative solutions for skiers and snowmobile riders. She was also recently awarded the first "Founder’s Award" from the Wood River Land Trust.
