SUFC soccer in Pocatello

This past weekend’s Portneuf Tournament was a huge success for the Sawtooth United U-11 boys’ team, which won its division with three wins and only one loss.

The only loss, 4-1, came at the hands of Bozeman. In that game, Chance McCroskey had the lone goal for SUFC. The team went on to beat Thunder 3-1 and Twin Falls Rapids 1-0. In the championship game, SUFC defeated the Boise Wolfpack on penalty kicks.

In the Thunder game, Raul Salinas, Tanner Flanigan and Crockett Stearns had goals. Daniel Sundali scored the lone goal against Twin Falls.

And in the championship match, Tanner Flanigan scored the only regular-time goal for coach Jeannie Pike’s SUFC. When the game went to penalty kicks, McCroskey, Sundali and Flanigan came up big and delivered the win over Boise.

Other results from the big Pocatello weekend:

U-12 girls: Three losses, to Les Sans Peur 2-0, Helena Arsenal 7-0 and Wolfpack 2-0. Goalie Sophia Schwartz played strong in net and kept the Wolfpack at bay in the 2-0 loss.
