225 runners try
Gun Club courseAt the WR Invitational
The Sun Valley Gun Club was the place to be Wednesday, Sept. 11 for 225 high school runners from 12 different schools. And it was a beautiful day for the 2002 Wood River Invitational cross country meet.
"We would like to thank Sun Valley Company for providing such an awesome venue," Wood River High School cross country coach James Foster said. "From one spot you could see 85 percent of the race."
The Wolverines had 27 of the runners and they did well, the best placings coming from junior Alex Hamlin (11th overall) in the 62-runner boys’ varsity race and freshman Rachael Richards (8th) in the 72-runner girls’ event over 3.1 miles.
Fastest runners were Hansen senior Cody Fowers (5th at State 2A in 2001), who won by 26 seconds, and Gooding senior April Homan (12th at State 3A in 2001), who prevailed by 16 seconds over Jerome freshman Sara Traughber in the girls’ race.
Other runners came from Twin Falls, Ririe, Declo, Oakley, Valley, Kimberly, Richfield and Shoshone. Here are top Gun Club results and Wood River’s runners:
