Wellness Festival cures spring blues by bringing in tourists

By DANA DUGAN
Express Staff Writer

The 5th Annual Sun Valley Wellness Festival was widely attended over the weekend and featured a Fun Run/Walk, five featured speakers, and over 60 demonstrations and workshops.

At least 2,500 people participated in some or all of the events. At least 40 percent of those were from out of town, said Carol Waller, Executive Director of the Chamber Visitor’s Bureau..

In the Sun Valley Inn’s Limelight Room the hands-on-hall attracted many folks browsing for new information, gifts and ideas. Many booths offered samples and some healers were seen working on customers.

Among the items and practices featured in the hall were crystals, healers, psychics, music, crystal bowls, herbal tonics, skin treatments, feng shui practitioners and aromatherapy. Other wellness items included Trinity Water, red Roo-ibos tea from South Africa and imported stylish sportswear.

PBS talk show co-host Dr. Zorba Pastor, Numerologist Glynis McCants and Dr. Deepak Chopra were the keynote speakers Saturday and Sunday.

Anti-aging, the hot topic this year, was addressed by Pastor and Chopra, as well as Dr. Tom Crais and Dr. Edward Lichten, who conducted a seminar Friday night.
