Price, Southward
earn "Player of Week" honors
Cascade salutes ‘Yotes
Two Wood
River High School graduates earned NAIA Cascade Conference "Player of
the Week" honors Oct. 10 based on their standout play for Albertson
College’s volleyball and men’s soccer teams.
Singled out
in their league and regionally as "Players of the Week" were
Kristyn Price, daughter of Sherry and Bruce Price of Bellevue, and Jason
Southward, son of Heidi and Glenn Southward of Hailey.
In
addition, both made honorable mention NAIA "Player of the Week."
Junior
outside hitter Kristyn Price led all players at the Blocktoberfest
Tournament with 93 kills. Price ranks second in the conference in kills
per game (4.88) and fourth in digs (3.42) and attack percentage (.292).
Saturday,
Price (19 kills, 15 digs) sparked the ‘Yotes in a four-game loss to
Oregon Tech at Klamath Falls.
Albertson
College stands at 12-8 overall, 7-4 in league entering two tough CCC tests
against Concordia and Western Baptist Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20 in
Caldwell.
Southward,
a true freshman for the ‘Yotes men’s soccer team (11-3 overall, 6-2
league), picked up six assists as Albertson swept three games last week by
a 27-2 margin. The ‘Yotes have won six straight.
Wood River
High’s all-time scoring leader ranks second on the ‘Yotes scoring list
(5 goals, 9 assists for 19 points) behind junior forward Coe Michaelson of
Wenatchee, Wash. (17 goals, 9 assists for 43 points). Michaelson tallied
10 goals in the three Albertson victories last week.
