Albrights pace Robie Creek locals
28 valley runners conquer climb
Whitney Albright and Kristen Albright led the way for the
28-runner Wood River Valley contingent Saturday during the 24th running of
the Race-to-Robie Creek 13.1-mile half-marathon outside of Boise.
There were 2,410 finishers conquering the eight-mile climb
up the 4,797-foot Aldape Summit including overall men’s winner Richard
Lee, 30, of Boise (1.17:57) and women’s queen Tiffany Larson, 34, of
Boise (1.34:26, good for 49th overall).
Whitney Albright, 31, placed a heady 24th overall and
sixth in the men’s 30-34 age class in 1.28:27. Kristen Albright, 25, was
62nd overall, second among all women and first in the 25-29 age class, in
1.36:05.
Both times were big improvements over last year. Whitney
moved up 38 places on the overall list and sliced 8:15 off his 2000 Robie
Creek clocking. Moving up 79 places on the overall list, Kristen advanced
from being the 12th woman overall to second this year, and improved by
8:38.
The fourth woman of 1,102 female finishers was Katie
Nasvik, 30, of Hailey in 1.39:23, third in her class and a 3:29
improvement over last year. Oldest of all finishers was 82-year-old John
Manning of Twin Falls in 3.15:19, good for 2,030th of 2,410.
