School levy passes

Blaine County voters narrowly approved a historic $38 million school facilities levy yesterday.

The measure—which received almost a 59 percent "yes" vote—required 55 percent voter approval.

Here are the results as reported by the Blaine County School District:

 For: 58.7 percent

 Against: 41.3 percent

A record 3,569 voters turned out for the election, according to district clerk Cathy Zacardi.

District superintendent Jim Lewis thanked the community. "I’m doing great!" he said at approximately 11:25 p.m., when the victory was finally nailed down. "[The levy] is going to do some phenomenal things for kids in the community. We’re just really, really pleased."
