Wazoo arrests made in sweeping sting
New wazoo law accelerates arrests
Wood River Valley police swept down on several Sun
Valley-area mansions Friday and arrested 30 second-home residents on charges of having
money up the wazoo.
The sweeping sting, coming one week after the Idaho Legislature authorized
the new wazoo law, was centered on a cul-de-sac of 15,000-square-foot homes north of
Ketchum.
Twenty people were charged with a total of 80 felony counts of unlawfully
cultivating money up the wazoo with the intent of conspicuous consumption, plus driving
SUVs with reckless ignorance of rising gas prices.
Another 10 people, all in the business of financial management, were
charged with aiding and abetting those with money up the wazoo.
All of those arrested declined to post bail of $500,000 per person, for
fear of incurring more charges of having money up the wazoo.
