Man remains critical after car accident

An East Fork resident remains in critical condition after he rolled his 1992 Chevrolet Suburban off East Fork Road on Thursday night.

According to Blaine County Sheriff Walt Femling, Joseph Carter, Jr., 46, was eastbound on the road at about 10:30 p.m. when his car slid off the right side of the road and rolled one and a half times down the bank, coming to rest on its top.

Femling said the car was found by another motorist who saw the lights shining up at the road and discovered Carter lying on the ground about 15 feet from the car. Femling said he apparently had not been wearing a seat belt.

Carter was taken by ambulance to Wood River Medical Center in Sun Valley, then life-flighted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. He was reported in critical condition there with chest injuries in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
